The Intent Score in DealSignal is a numerical representation that measures a company's interest in specific topics or keywords based on their online activities and content consumption. It is a valuable metric for identifying potential leads and gauging the readiness of a company to engage with particular products or services.

Calculating the Intent Score

The process begins with the collection of data from various online sources, including websites, blogs, news articles, social media, and other digital platforms. This data is analyzed to identify patterns of content consumption related to specific intent topics.

Each piece of content is matched against predefined intent topics. These topics are relevant to the user's industry and interests. The matching is done using advanced natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning algorithms.

Scoring mechanism: For each matched topic, a score is assigned based on the frequency and depth of content consumption. The more a company engages with content related to a particular topic, the higher the score.

Average Score calculation: When a user selects several intent topics in DealSignal, the system calculates the average score for those topics that match the company's content consumption. This ensures that the final intent score is a comprehensive representation of the company's overall interest across multiple topics.

Example scenario

Let's consider a user interested in companies showing intent for "Cloud Computing," "Cybersecurity," and "Data Analytics." The system analyzes the company's online behavior and assigns individual scores for each topic. If the scores are as follows:

  • Cloud Computing: 85

  • Cybersecurity: 78

  • Data Analytics: 90

Average Intent Score=(85+78+90)/3=84.33

This average score (84.33) indicates the company's aggregated interest in the selected topics.

Note: In the case you are searching, e.g., for 3 topics, but only 2 of them are matching for the company, the average score for this company will be calculated only for these 2 topics.
